"Have you locked the elevator? Nobody gets anywhere near Starkweather. Give me the key... we can't be safe with these two bastards running around."
- Cerberus Leader

Key Personnel is the nineteenth scene in Manhunt where James Earl Cash breaks into Starkweather’s Estate and battles the Director's Cerberus force, including its leader.

Mission[]

Manhunt 2011-07-04 19-46-36-32

The Cerberus Leader talking to his men in the opening cutscene

Cash enters Starkweather's Estate via one of the basements, while Piggsy is on the loose somewhere. Meanwhile, the Cerberus Leader takes the key to the elevator leading up the Starkweather's office before ordering one of his men to go down to the other basement and shut down power to the elevator.

After Cash carefully kills a few Cerberus while avoiding the security cameras (which will spawn reinforcements and make the others search for him), the Cerberus Leader is moved to another room upstairs due to one of the dead Cerberus not responding. Cash then must get the elevator key and turn the elevator power back on in the order of the player's choice:

  • To get the elevator power back on, Cash must cross the large room with the wide stairs and then go down the large spiral staircase to the second basement and find the switch while killing all the Cerberus on the way down and back up.
  • To get the elevator key, Cash must head up to the second floor, to the security office and kill the Cerberus Leader and all his bodyguards.

Once Cash has completed these tasks, he enters the elevator leading up to Starkweather's office.

Trivia[]

  • This scene takes place on the lower floors of Starkweather's Estate.
  • Glass Shards can be created from the many pictures hanging on the walls across the mansion.
  • There's a switch in the surveillance room (opposite the head of security room where the Cerberus Leader is held up after moving out of the billiards room) that turns the cameras off.
    • If required, Cash can also shoot the cameras.
  • This is the fourth of four occasions where Cash is required to turn a power switch back on, and second of two where he is required to kill a boss character to obtain a key, following the White Rabbit.
  • Three pictures of Lionel Starkweather when he was a professional movie director can be seen in the level.
  • The main lobby's layout is very similar to the Vercetti Estate's entrance from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (itself based on Tony Montana's mansion from the 1983 film Scarface).
  • As the Cerberus Leader is a boss character, he has a considerably higher amount of health compared to his men - over twice as much, much like Ramirez and the White Rabbit, allowing him to take more than a few hits from the Assault Rifle. Since his AI is identical to the normal Cerberus, however, he can be executed using the same standard tactic for ordinary Hunters.
    • Due to a developer oversight, his speech is the same as his men, when the Leader actually has own voice set.
  • The scene does not have a fixed number of Hunters. The place where the third camera that monitors the way to the main lobby, just left of the room where the Cerberus Leader is hiding in the beginning of the scene, will spawn at first 3 Cerberus with Heavy Handguns. Later, it will spawn randomly 1 to 3 more Cerberus with Heavy Handguns. They spawn behind and a little to the right of the doors, and will stop spawning if the Cerberus Leader is killed or left the room to his room across from the control room. Even if he left the room, 3 additional Cerberus will spawn once only. If the player encounters those 3 Cerberus once, the number of Hunters should be 35. The maximum count is 48.
  • Like in the previous scene, although Piggsy is on the loose, he is nowhere to be found until the final level.
  • Screenshots reveal some early beta information from this scene:
    • The Cerberus could crouch while shooting.
    • The "Head of security" room was slightly different, with less couches and no visible shelves.[1]

  1. Either it references the deleted/unuploaded screenshot or this is plain wrong as you can see one of the shelves and both couches in a head of security room screenshot, while the billiard room in both it's early screenshot & the game right now doesn't feature any shelves or couches at all.
