Hunters, sometimes known as Gangs, are the primary antagonist groups hired to kill the player. They greatly outnumber the protagonist, and are tough opponents even in one-on-one encounters. The player therefore must use stealth to isolate and pick them off. In both Manhunt games the player must kill or avoid Hunters to complete each level, by using stealth to execute them or with firearms later in the game.
At the beginning of each game, they tend to be unarmed or poorly armed but progressively acquire more powerful weapons and firearms, but so does the protagonist, as when a hunter is killed, they will drop their Weapon.
If the hunter is unaware of the protagonist's existence, they tend to mutter to themselves, but if they are searching for the player, they will try to taunt him into showing himself (eg. "Yeah, you keep hiding in the trash where you belong" and "I know where you are. I can smell the mess in your pants").

Eventually, the protagonist will face off against a specific antagonist. Most of them are usually tougher to kill and some cannot be executed normally. A few have similar stats to regular Hunters.
