"Diablo, give me the gringo's eyes tonight."
- Skully 2

The Innocentz are a wicked gang of Hunters who appear in Manhunt and comprise a coalition of ragtag outcasts. Their ranks are numbered with Latino thugs, cultists, and the mentally disturbed.

Description[]

The Innocentz are a dangerous and well-armed criminal gang operating out of the East Los Albos district, and are the fourth group of Hunters James Earl Cash encounters. Their weapons of choice are Revolvers and Sawn-off Shotguns, but are also armed with Knives, Axes, and Sickles. They also prefer to use combined force instead of individual skill. The Innocentz are on-par with the Wardogs in how armed and organized compared to other gangs Cash faced throughout the game.

The Innocentz have two factions: the bulk of the Innocentz are composed of the Skullz (more commonly called Skullyz), a group of Latino goths, gangbangers (particularly Sureños), and Satanists who also belong to local gang sets such as Malos or Muerte 187. They wear dark colored jeans, track pants, wife beaters, or torn hoodies along with Grim Reaper masks, frightening skull-face paint, and gang tattoos.

There are also the Baby Faces, a group of overweight perverts and mentally deficient murderers who Lionel Starkweather hired to add muscle to the gang. Their name comes from the creepy porcelain doll masks with oversized glass eyes they wear. They usually wear Hawaiian shirts, flannel shirts, brown or blue jean pants, pajama pants, sneakers, and slippers.

Many of the Skullyz members of the Innocentz appear to be high on drugs, and can be heard mentioning peyote. They also can be heard muttering to themselves about a dark clairvoyant figure guiding them to kill Cash, along with curses and angry groans. Their counterparts, the Baby Faces, meanwhile, are suggested to be genuine psychopaths and pedophiles who add a distressing contrast to the Skullyz; many of them appear to be intellectually disabled, acting in a disturbing child-like nature, similar to the Smileys.

Appearances[]

During the events of Manhunt, Ramirez is seen giving orders to the drunk and high Innocentz from inside the abandoned Carcer Church. After Ramirez dispatches the Innocentz throughout East Los Albos, Cash raids an abandoned mall claimed as Innocentz turf. Following Starkweather's instructions to obtain a VCR tape and a broken camera, Cash fights many Innocentz through the mall and witnesses the death of one of his family members at the hands of a Baby Face armed with a Machete at the conclusion of this scene.

Manhunt All Innocentz Quotes

After escaping from the mall, Cash is forced to escort a Tramp through the streets and back alleys of East Los Albos which are being aggressively patrolled by the Skullyz. Cash leads the Tramp to a graveyard behind Carcer Church, where he engages in a shootout with several members of the Innocentz, before dropping the Tramp off and completing the scene.

After arriving at a chemical factory, Cash methodically wipes out the last remaining members of the Innocentz gang and they are never seen again.

Mission Appearances: View of Innocence, Drunk Driving, Graveyard Shift, and Brawl Game.

Assassins for hire[]

(Innocentz member since 1998); Jules: "You may have seen me in Starkweather's film "View of Innocence". I'm looking for some freelance work. Are you trying to track somebody down? Someone who hasn't paid their debts, or a person that wronged you somehow... well I can find them, and make them PAY! I don't stop till I catch my prey."

Trivia[]

  • The Innocentz might be inspired by multiple hot topics that media watchdogs are known for hating, such as Satanism, drugs or drug addiction, pedophilia, cartels, and gang violence in general.
    • On the other hand, this could be another of Rockstar's pokes at their critics, especially the Republican Party and Jack Thompson, who tried to ban most of Rockstar's games in the early 2000s.
  • The Hooded Skullyz members, particularly the red-hooded (one of them being Skully 1) and skull-faced model shows a striking resemblance to The Crimson Ghost, from the 1946 12 chapter Republic Film serial of the same name. This image was adopted by the Horror-Punk band The Misfits, famous for their lyrics about monsters, violence, horror films, and serial killers. In addition, the pointed tooth skull mask worn by other Skullyz bears a resemblance to the demon Lord Pazuzu from the infamous 1973 horror film The Exorcist.
  • One of the mentally-disabled Baby Face Innocentz, voiced by Adam Sietz, makes a scream that mimics Tarzan during combat.
  • The head models of the Skullyz members that wear hoods are actually only the visible portion of their mask, without the back part of the head. This means decapitating them would reveal that their head is only a mask, and any Plastic Bag execution would cover only their heads while leaving their hoods uncovered. This is due to the game's limited programming. At Graveyard Shift, it is possible to cut off their heads with Wire and then put a Plastic Bag on them (for the Plastic Bag, you need the oob glitch).
  • The Skullyz being composed out of (seemingly, given the trivia regarding the song "La Cucaracha") Mexican Satanists could be a reference to the infamous Mexican-American serial killer Richard Ramirez.
  • Unlike all other gangs, the Innocentz's levels are completely disconnected from each other, showing Cash entering entirely different places within their territory. It is possible that these scenes were a last minute addition, or other levels were removed and changed during development.
  • The body shape of the Baby Face members are shared with Starkweather's.
  • The Skullyz are the only gang to speak a non-English language (in their case, Spanish) in the Manhunt series.
  • The Innocentz is likely based on violent real-life Latino gangs or drug cartels, such as the Latin Kings, 18th Street, or MS-13.
  • It is possible most of the Skullyz are LaVeyan Satanists (who do not actually worship the biblical figure Satan, and instead view him as a positive figure in a non-religious way, and worship themselves instead). Although some of them are strongly implied to genuinely worship Satan.
  • One of the Skullyz members of the Innocentz will sing the song "La Cucaracha" which is highly popular in Mexico, meaning that the Skullyz could possibly come from Mexican families, if not Mexico itself.
    • Starkweather may indeed confirm their nationality by calling them "Mexican assholes" if they are idle for too long. This could also imply Starkweather holds some sort of prejudiced views against Mexicans.
  • In the intro cutscene of View of Innocence, one of the Innocentz is dual-wielding a pair of Sickles and there are three Shotguns in the graveyard, suggesting that the Innocentz used Shotguns or were dual-wielders in the beta version of the game.
    • Also, in the same cutscene, one of the Baby Faces is unusually tall, appearing around 7 feet in height. However, no such Innocentz member is encountered in gameplay, as all Hunters are exactly of the same height as Cash.
  • The Baby Faces' pedophilia and porcelain doll masks may be in reference to the Deep Web, where evidence of child prostitution was found and the criminals involved were called "Doll Makers".
  • The Red Kings gang in Manhunt 2 bares some resemblance to the Innocentz as well as the Hoods and are likely inspired by them.
  • Cash kills a total of 80 Innocentz in the three scenes they appear in.
  • In Grand Theft Auto V, during the mission "Pack Man", Trevor Phillips describes Franklin Clinton sleeping as "The sleep of innocence", which is incorrectly captioned as "Innocents" instead of "innocence". This may be a reference to the Innocentz gang.
  • In View of Innocence, inside the bathroom, a Hood gang member can by seen already murdered by the Innocentz, signifying a rivalry between those gangs.
  • The Skullyz members are in-tie with the Hoods' ski mask members for the youngest gang in the game.
